Facebook-owned messaging platform WhatsApp has encountered a new bug which has the ability to delete the media files from Android devices.
WhatsApp is known to push out constant update for its platform. However, the company has advised beta users against downloading the latest 2.19.66 version and updating WhatsApp as there seems to be a problem with the same.
WhatsApp has also cautioned the users from updating the app even by mistake.
Some of the WhatApp users who have experienced this have complained about the bug on Twitter.
Although the company has prompted users not to install the latest update it is also working on a fix for this bug.
Another user reported that they were not able to send text messages or make calls via the app after they had updated WhatsApp. Many users are reporting that they cannot see the media in the app but are able to view them in the phone’s gallery.
Many have also reported that because of the bug they have lost important images and documents.
There have also been reports about issues with the WhatsApp Status feature where the display picture of the contact is shown grey when opened in a status window.
Therefore, until WhatsApp releases an update or fix for this bug, it is advised not to download the 2.19.66 and 2.19.67 version of the app.
