Dual camera phones these days are a dime a dozen. From a starting price of as low as 14k to almost 80k, there are plenty of dual lens devices in the market today.
The Cool Play 6 from Coolpad is another newcomer in this category that claims it has the ‘specs to spark’. The Honor 6x on the other hand has been in the market for a while and sports one of the best dual-cameras in the budget segment.
So how do both fare when touted against each other? Let’s take a look.
The new Coolpad Cool Play 6 comes with a full metal design, same as the Honor 6x. The Coolplay might look a bit bulky but still fits perfectly in hand. The Honor 6x is also a compact device, so there’s nothing to separate the two. Both phones sport a 5.5-inch full HD display with similar screen to body ratios.
Overall, they are good looking phones with good displays.
The Cool Play 6 sports an impressive specs sheet and is a beast of a phone. It comes with a Snapdragon 653 processor coupled with 6GB RAM. Yes, 6GB of RAM!
The Honor 6x runs a HiSilicon 655 chipset with 4GB RAM inside. Both phones run on user interface’s which are a bit a iffy and tough to navigate through. Some points lost for the Honor 6x because of lesser RAM (not that it matters that much).
The Cool Play 6 is running the latest version of Android Nougat 7.1.1 while the Honor 6x is still on Marshmallow (with the update yet to come).
The biggest disadvantage with the Cool Play 6 is that it doesn’t offer expandable memory and that is a big deal-breaker.
The Honor 6x has an exemplary camera setup which has been tried and tested for long. The 12+2-megapixel rear camera clicks some very good pictures both in day and low light.
The 13+13 megapixel rear camera on the Cool Play 6 is an obvious winner on paper and also when it comes to the quality of pictures.
Not that the Honor 6x camera is bad but the Cool Play 6 has a slight upper edge in terms of sharpness and quality.
The Cool Play 6 packs a 4060mAh battery which steamrolls over the 3340mAh battery of the Honor 6x. Hence, no doubts over which one is a better back-up device.
Where the 64GB variant of the Cool Play 6 can be bought for Rs 14,999 the Honor 6x is a bit more economical at Rs 13,999 for the 64GB variant.
Yes, the Rs 1,000 difference does look a lot in the sub-15k category but you are getting a lot of additional features with the Cool Play 6, like a better camera with more battery life and RAM.
With the Honor 6x you are getting a good phone, but if you can push yourself to spend that extra 1000 bucks then the Cool Play 6 is a very ‘Cool’ bargain at that price tag.
