Coolpad has worked with many Indian mobile makers over the years, but for the past couple of years, the brand has been selling its own range of devices. They’ve even adopted LeEco’s software and hardware set-up (they were bought by the Chinese company after all) which was first seen with the Cool 1 in 2016.
Fast-forward to 2017, and they’re back with the Cool Play 6 smartphone, that essentially vies for your attention in the sub 15K bracket, by becoming the first device in the under 20K price point to pack 6GB of RAM. But does it have enough in its tank to rival the competition? We spent some time with the device to get to know the device.
First look at the device sent me a couple of months back, when I first saw the LeEco phones. The resemblance can't be ignored. Full metal, solid design and feels comfortable to hold.
It sports a 5.5-inch full HD display that performs well. No problems here.
The phone runs on a Snapdragon 653 octa core processor coupled with 6GB RAM. As impressive in the hands as on paper. Not really a big fan the Journey UI, although, it's running on the latest Android.
It sports a fingerprint sensor on the rear which is quite responsive. Charges via a type-C port and comes with dual-speakers at the bottom.
Dual-camera setup on a phone in this price range is rare. The 13+13 megapixel on the rear is a decent performer.
The phone packs a 4000mAh battery which is surely enough to last you the entire day.
At Rs 14,999 this phone does check all the boxes. 6GB RAM and the dual camera are the reasons you can consider this phone. Probably the 'Coolest' phone you can buy under 15,000 in the market.
