Every year, around the festive season Indian e-commerce giants like Flipkart, Amazon and Snapdeal fight it out to give discounts and woo consumers.
In 2014 the sale was not a great success, as many did not even get the products they had ordered.
This year things might be headed the same way. With Flipkart offering their Big Billion Sale only on the app, people who do not have a smartphone are left out of it.
Amazon and Snapdeal sales are available both on their app and website.
The Big Billion Sale by Flipkart and Amazon might not have ticked off a great response, but if you are a gadget lover chances are you might get yourself a steal deal.
Both Amazon and Flipkart are offering some great deals on budget smartphones from Lenovo and Xiaomi.
The Lenovo K3 Note has a discount of Rs 800 on Flipkart and Xiaomi Mi4i is retailing for just Rs 9,999.
Motorola smartphones are also available with some great offers. But the flagships by Motorola are not the ones up for grabs.
The Motorola Moto E 2nd Gen which is a 4G LTE compatible smartphone is available at a price cut of Rs 3,000. It’s available on Flipkart’s Big Billion Sale at Rs 5,757. But if you head on to Amazon you can save a little extra as this phone is available for Rs 5,599.
Power-banks also have some amazing offers on Flipkart. Huawei’s 13000 mAh Honor Powerbank that’s one of the best in business is priced at just Rs 999. That’s a steal deal.
Other power-banks also have discounts ranging from 10 per cent to 30 per cent on them.
There is no big discount on Xbox One or the PlayStation 4 on both Amazon and Flipkart. And the discounts offered on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 is so little that they should have just excluded this category.
The 500GB PlayStation 3 has a discount of just 7 per cent and is retailing at Rs 24,900 with a bundled game on Flipkart.
There are some great offers on laptops as well. The most interesting one is on Apple’s MacBook Air. The sleek looking notebook has a discount of more than 20 per cent on both Flipkart and Amazon. You can save more than Rs 18,000 on this machine. It’s a good buy to pick up on this sale.
The Xioami Mi Pad Tablet that has a retail price of Rs 12,999 has a great offer on Amazon. It’s one of the best budget Android tablet to buy in India right now and is available at Rs 9,999.
These online sales offer a lot of attractive discounts on gadgets and gizmos every year. But there are a few problems as well.
Depending on where you live the e-retailers charge you a delivery fee on the goods. And a discount might not be worth the effort.
It’s been recorded in the past that when you buy stuff online from these big sales from Amazon and Flipkart, the good are either undelivered, delayed and damaged.
There have also been instances when the gadget was missing inside the packaging.
Many location deliveries also do not have cash-on-delivery option, so before you buy stuff online using net banking or your credit card, just be be prepared for the worst.
It’s always better to buy a gadget from a retail shop as you can see the product physically before you shell out your hard earned money. The probability of unknown is high on these big ticket sales.
Flipkart is planning to go app only, that’s why they are offering their Big Billion Sale only on their app. This is a bit of a shame because the online shopping experience on a desktop is better and Amazon and Snapdeal are offering their big sales on both the app and the website.
