Apple’s Patent Hints at Face ID and Touch ID On the Same Device

A patent application filed by Apple hints at both security features – Face ID and Touch ID – on the same device.

A patent application filed by Apple in Europe hints that the tech giant might be working on technology that combines both its security features – the Face ID and the Touch ID, GadgetsNow reported, citing a patentlyapple.com report.

The report says that there are two major patent applications by the tech giant that specifically deal wiith both Touch ID and Face ID in the same device.

This, hints at more secure Apple devices in the future. However, filing of patents does not ensure that the feature will for sure be launched in future Apple devices.

The Touch ID was introduced with the iPhone 5S while the Face ID feature was first seen on the iPhone X and was later expanded to the latest 2018 iPad Pro.

With an increase in the number and intensity of cyber attacks, there might be a chance that someone in the future breaks into Face unlock.

Apple's Face ID uses a TrueDepth camera for a 3D face unlock, unlike most Android phones that use a rudimentary 2D face unlock. This makes Face ID more secure and accurate than the one's seen on many Android phones today.

After all, more than one biometric identification is always a better option. It'll surely add to the protection of the device if Apple brings it to future iPhone.
