Apple’s new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar and Touch ID is finally in India. According to ITNet, an Apple reseller in Kerala, the 2016 Macbook Pro with the innovative touch screen strip is available for purchase.
The new Macbook Pros with fingerprint reader and replaced function keys was announced in October and its delayed availability in USA has been the subject of quite a few Twitter rants. The tech and creative community also seems to be divided on their opinion of the new machines, some calling them thoroughly disappointing while others have lauded the touch bar and enhanced battery life.
However, the new Macs will not come cheap in India. Prices for the 13-inch Touch Bar variants start at Rs 1,55,900 while the non-touch bar version will retail for Rs 1,29,900. The most expensive version is for Rs 2,41,900, as much as a Tata Nano car.
The new models which come as an upgrade on the previous Macbook Pros are lighter, and thinner than predecessors, something that has become the norm with Apple’s latest gadgets.
However, the biggest selling point is the inclusion of the innovative multi-touch strip. Customers will now be able to access the new machines with Touch ID, Apple’s fingerprint reader tech, commonly found on iPhones and iPads. The touch bar is adaptive and changes display as per the program the user is running,
The 13-inch model comes equipped with a 2.9 Ghz Dual-core Intel i5 processor and 256 GB of SSD. The 15-inch model has switchable Radeon Pro graphics, 2.6 Ghz Quad Core i7 processor with upto 512 GB of SSD storage.
