After Apple COO Jeff Williams announced the new series 4 Apple Watch, CEO Tim Cook announced the most anticipated smartphone in the world, the new iPhone XS and gave the stage to Philip Schiller to introduce the new, most powerful iPhone ever.
Now, the thing everyone is always curious about - the price. The iPhone XS will start at Rs 99,900, while the XS Max is estimated to start from Rs 1,09,900 price range.
The phones will come in three storage variants - one 64 GB variant, one 256GB and a 512GB variant and will be available in India by the end of this month. The phones however, look exactly like last year’s iPhone X.
The new iPhone will come in two sizes, a 5.8-inch variant and one with a 6.5-inch screen, the largest ever seen on an iPhone. However, since this is the biggest screen ever seen on an iPhone, Apple has let go of the 'Plus' tag and called the bigger phone the iPhone XS Max.
Both the phones look similar to the iPhone X and come with an all new OLED Retina display with 458 pixels per inch. The phone uses Dolby's Vision engine to enhance the display.
The new A12 Bionic Processor will be able to perform about 5 trillion operations per second and will be able to open apps about 30 percent faster than the A11 chip.
The camera on the new iPhone XS and the XS Max is a dual camera setup with two 12 megapixel sensors, one wide angle and one telephoto sensor. The wide angle sensor has an f/1.8 aperture while the telephoto sensor makes f/2.4 aperture. At the front, there is a 7-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture.
The battery life on the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max has also improved. The iPhone XS's battery will go on for 30 minutes more than the iPhone X while the XS Max will go on for 1.5 hour more than that on the iPhone X.
Another interesting update on the new iPhone's is that the phone's now support two SIM cards. However, the catch here is that there is space for only a single physical SIM while the second one will be an eSIM.
An eSIM is an electronic connection, like how telecom companies give plans with the Apple watch. Only for China, Apple has given a second physical SIM slot.
