The latest iOS version will be available to all iPhone and iPad users across globe from 17 September onwards. In India, users can head over to the Apple software update page after 10:30pm and get their hands on the final stable version of the mobile software.
Apple till now had released the beta version of its iOS 12 operating system ahead of its final roll out. This helps the company figure out real world testing before the software officially launches. Official roll out starts later today.
iOS 12 is also likely to be the last software update for devices like the iPhone SE and iPhone X maybe, which have been discontinued by Apple from this year onwards.

With iOS 12, Animoji just got a whole lot more personal. You can completely customise your own virtual avatar, called a Memoji. Change everything from hair color, to skin tone, to facial hair. Just like regular Animoji, your Memoji uses the Face ID camera to keep track of your facial expressions.
You also get screen time, where you can see a breakdown of how much time you've spent on the phone and it also shows the most used apps. For augmented reality (AR) use-case Apple’s AR Kit 2 on iOS 12 also features a new measuring app, that uses the camera to measure real-world objects.
For India, Apple in its letter dated 19 June said it has announced a new feature in iOS 12 (its operating system) to enhance spam SMS and call reporting. This new capability, the company said, provides developers with the ability to create an app extension that allows users to report both unwanted messages and calls as spam.
Unlike Android, iOS 12 update will be available to all iPhone/iPad users across the globe.
