The days of cheap video streaming services are going to be over real soon. Amazon India is all set to increase the subscription fee for its 'Prime' service to Rs 999 in India in the coming days.
The Jeff Bezos-owned conglomerate brought Prime Videos to India last year for an introductory price of Rs 499.
While Amazon Prime was originally available at Rs 999, the price was slashed around July last year.
Introductory prices are bound to be revised, so, there’s no surprise to see Amazon doing so. After all, it’s a business, and just like Netflix, they’d want to start making some money in the video streaming segment.
Even by paying Rs 999 every year for Prime, you’re still getting good value for the money, with free delivery offers and early deal benefits. In addition to that, one can expect Amazon to add more of its Prime products to its Indian catalogue very soon.
Amazon did not disclose the number of Prime users in India.
