Alexa, Open Netflix: Now Search With Fire TV Stick Voice Remote

Amazon’s Fire TV stick is the most reliable device to convert your regular television into an internet-enabled smart TV supporting all streaming apps.
Having said that, Amazon has kept its voice remote control functionality limited to its products like Amazon Music and Prime Video till now.
But that’s changing this week, as the company has offered a software update for its voice-enabled remote, which will now support search for content from Netflix in the country.
Fire TV stick and Fire TV stick 4K users in India can now search and play content from Netflix by typing or using Alexa’s voice search via the remote. For every search, Fire TV will look for and serve content from both – Amazon Prime Video and Netflix.
This feature has been globally available for a long time, but somehow users in India were never able to make use of it.
So, we’re glad that Amazon has finally given the feature to its Fire TV stick users in the country as well. In all probability, this will work as a software update for Fire TV stick users, so if you still can’t open Netflix through the remote, get the latest firmware version to enable it.
This is a useful option and hopefully, Amazon will add support for other platforms to its voice search feature. The Fire TV stick is available in two variants, with prices starting from Rs 3,999 in the country. You can run apps like Netflix, Hotstar, Amazon Prime Video and a host of other news and entertainment apps through the device on your television, connected to a Wi-Fi network.
Even though the Fire TV stick goes up against Google Chromecast, consumers have liked the versatility of the Fire TV stick, making it the popular streaming device in the country.
Recently, Google and Amazon decided to bury the hatchet, and agreed to support Prime Video and YouTube on their respective devices.
