Amazon has set its base for Echo range of speakers in India, now it’s busy localising content and offering services that will lure consumers to its ecosystem.

We’re talking about radio FM stations and while smartphones have lost the connect with its value, Amazon’s smart speaker is ready to help them out. Well, that’s how the company is putting it, claiming, you can access over 350 stations via its Echo range of smart speakers, or any device which supports its Alexa voice assistant in India, even your smartphones!

In addition to streaming music from services such as Prime Music, Gaana, Saavn and Hungama Music, Alexa also provides access to over 350 radio stations across popular genres, the company has said in a statement.

With help of Times Internet’s Gaana, you were already able to play Radio Mirchi channel, but now you can even access other popular stations like Radio City, Radio One and even All India Radio (AIR) FM Gold among others. These channels are available via third-party apps like myTuner and TuneIn to play English tracks and international sports update.

In order to get these working on your Alexa-enabled device, you need to install respective Skills from the Skill Store and enable on your account.

How to Play FM Radio on Alexa

  • Download Radio One/TuneIN or myTuner skill from Alexa app
  • Install and enable it for your Amazon account on the app
  • Use the trigger word Alexa, what radio stations do you have to get started

FM stations have been a popular aspect of listening to music for millions of Indians, and with these smart speakers mostly used for playing music, it makes sense for radio to become part of its catalogue.
