Sony is having a hard time selling its smartphone these days, so they’re looking to get you to buy their Walkman instead. We’re talking about a device that was deemed useful during the pre-smartphone era. So, for the Japanese brand to push its Walkman into the Indian market in 2016 feels like an after-thought that needs explanation.
Mainly focused on the audiophiles, Sony hopes to catch the attention of consumers who like to have a device capable of upscaling the audio quality.

Now, if you compare these features to that of a smartphone, chances are you’ll find a negligible difference in the features between a phone and this Walkman. So, here’s our question to Sony, why on earth will someone spend 14K on a device for features that are already available on a smartphone right now?
And the bigger question for people who go deep into their music, do you really need this device to enjoy high-quality music in 2016? We’d have to wait and see if the Walkman is truly worth it.
