It’s official!
The new iPhone portfolio will be revealed on 12 September and The Quint is gearing up for the big launch. By now, we know you’ve seen a hundred images of what the new iPhone will look like. And yes, we know you’ve been hearing report after report of the features it might sport.
But here’s something different. The iPhone is often hailed for its tech, but here’s a list of old tech it needs to get rid of in order to give the Androids out there a run for their money.
So what features should Apple ditch in the new iPhone? Take a look:
A bezel-less smartphone is beautiful. Look no further than the Samsung Galaxy S8. And it’s not just the high rollers who are going bezel-less, the recently launched Canvas Infinity from Micromax also sports a bezel-less screen and that too at just Rs 9,999.
So Apple? Don’t you think it’s time already? The recently leaked pictures and most of the rumours suggest Apple will dump the bezels this time around. Apple fans are keeping their fingers crossed.

We’ve been crying ourselves hoarse for a better display on the iPhone for a long time now. When news broke out earlier this year that Apple was in talks with Samsung over manufacturing of the OLED panels, we got a slight idea of what Apple was planning for the upcoming iPhone.
The OLED technology adds life to the smartphone display. We hope the rumours are true and that Apple finally ditches the IPS LCD display.
Ever since the launch of the iPhone, its Home button has been its ‘best buddy’ (Like Captain America and his shield). The Chinese loved it so much that they started copying the design and using it on their own phones.
Now, as the fingerprint sensors are being relocated to the back of phones, what happens to the Home button? Ask Samsung.

The American tech giant has been foreshadowing the removal of the home button for some time and we can expect them to loose it for good this time.
Speculation has been rife that Apple would adopt the type-C, but sadly that hasn’t happened yet.
The new iPhone will pack more power, need faster data transfer, and faster battery changing. But none of this will happen with its current connector.
It painful to see people running out of memory on their iPhones when they bundle in too many apps in them. Sometimes, even 64GB on an iPhone feels like nothing.
Apple has given us more memory with a 256GB iPhone, but yeah you have to pay a considerable amount to get extra memory. Not fair, Apple! Give the people what they want. Start with expandable memory options for the iPhone.
