I would be lying if I say that a lot has changed in the new iPhone 8 series.

At a gala event at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, Apple CEO Tim Cook took the wraps off the latest offering from Apple – the new iPhone 8 and 8 Plus.

Prices in India for the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus start at Rs 64,000 and Rs 73,000 respectively. Both phones will be available starting 29 September.

As always, Apple reserved their best for the last as the 10th anniversary edition iPhone X was also launched at the event. You can read more about the iPhone X here.

For now let’s focus on the 8 and 8 Plus.

The new iPhone 8 and 8 Plus sport the exact same design as the previous generation iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. The only addition? More glass this time.

Where the iPhone 8 comes with a 4.7-inch Retina HD display, the 8 Plus comes with a larger 5.5-inch screen. Both displays run on Apple’s True Tone technology and support 3D touch.

The new iPhone 8 and 8 Plus comes with the new hexa-core A11 Bionic chipset, which Apple says is 70 percent faster than iPhone 7. It is also capable of delivering 30 percent faster graphics than before.

Some incremental updates have also been made to the camera of the new iPhone 8 series. They have also been integrated with AR (augmented reality) and also come with a water and dust-resistant design.

The megapixel count remains the same as before as the new iPhone 8 comes with a 12-megapixel rear and 7-megapixel front camera, whereas the 8 Plus sports a 12-megapixel dual camera.

Although the numbers are the same, Apple says that some additions, like multiple lighting modes in the Portrait Mode of the camera, make the camera experience much better.

Apple added that the battery capacity on the new iPhones is much better. The new iPhones are capable of providing two hours of more battery life than the old one.

The new iPhones also come with wireless charging technology and will run on the latest iOS 11.

The event also featured the new Apple Watch Series 3 and Apple Tv which now goes 4k.
