Xiaomi’s Yeelight known for its affordable smart light products has finally launched in India with products starting from Rs 2,449 for the smart bulbs, going up to Rs 5,449 for the night lamp. The market for smart light has been seeing a definite growth in the country and we’ve always felt that products with mass-market prices could spruce it up further.

With Yeelight, which is a China-based brand, you’re getting host of products within the price bracket of 10K and caters to your usage via a mobile app or better, voice control.

Yeelight’s till date have been imported/bought via Chinese online sites like Gearbest and AliExpress but with its entry into the market, people can pick them up from online stores or get them at an offline shop in the coming months.

Yeelight will be competing against other brands like Syska, Wipro and Philips Hue among others.

The smart lights from Yeelight primarily function via Wi-Fi in your room or office. It doesn’t need Bluetooth once you’ve paired it up with your mobile. The linking happens with the Yeelight app, which is accessible by signing on to his/her account.

With the app, you can control the luminosity of the bulb, change its colour and even the speed at which the transitions happen. The company has launched two bulbs, one light strip and a night lamp with candle-like effect.

In addition to the mobile app, you can control the lights with voice assistants like Alexa or Google Assistant. This can be done by pairing the respective device via the Alexa or Google Home app on the smartphone.

The prices of the products in India are slightly higher than what it costs in China but that’s probably got to do with the rising import duty costs levied on electronics in the country.

The smart electronics segment as a whole is likely to see rampant growth in India, and Yeelight wants to milk the best of the festive season in the country right now.
