Folks at Xiaomi really do a lot of work to understand how they can put another smartphone into the Indian market. They have a phone in each segment and most of them have done really well to put Xiaomi right at the top in India.
Now the Chinese company has launched yet another phone in the market which is the Redmi Y2. While the 3GB variant of the device comes in at Rs 9,999, the 4GB variant will cost you Rs 11,999.
We got a hold of the device for a while and have got you a quick look at the new Redmi Y2 from Xiaomi.
The Y2 has been launched keeping in mind the selfie lovers of the country as it comes with a 16-megapixel front camera.
On the hardware front the Y2 comes with a HD+ 5.99-inch screen that sports a resolution of 720x1440. This is an average display which will struggle under sunlight a bit.
It runs on a Snapdragon 625 processor couple with RAM options of 3GB and 4GB. For storage purposes, the Y2 packs 64GB of in-built storage which can be expanded using a microSD card. Could’t really take the phone through the paces, but for everyday usage it seems fine.
You get a selfie light too in the front, for when you’re in low light conditions. The concept of AI in a camera is nothing new, and many other companies have already tried and tested this feature. Xiaomi is playing catch up.
For back-up the company has put inside a 3080mAh battery pack that charges via a USB 2.0 charging port.
The Xiaomi Redmi Y2 has been priced very aggressively at Rs 9,999, which is the only reason I feel this phone might sell. Yes, the front camera is good and it packs a powerful Snapdragon 625, but still not something that’d make you buy the Y2.
At the end of the day, it’s still ANOTHER XIAOMI PHONE!
