The OnePlus 6T rumours could turn into reality very soon, as the company has reportedly confirmed its existence. That’s not all, consumers are likely to get a first official glimpse of the device in the coming months, meaning it will launch before the end of this year.
This will be the third year in succession, after the OnePlus 3T and 5T, where OnePlus is likely to disappoint its existing set of users with another T version device. The confirmation of the OnePlus 6T was confirmed by the company to CNET on Monday, which also said that the phone will get an in-display fingerprint reader.
This feature was first made available via Vivo phones like the X21, Vivo Nex and the recently launched V11 Pro, all of which are selling in the Indian market. The company also shared a teaser for the upcoming phone which suggests that it could launch on 17 October this year.
As you can see below, the screen doesn’t get a thick notch anymore, and it clearly mentions Wednesday, 17 October as the date when the phone with an in-display fingerprint reader makes its debut which OnePlus is calling as the Screen Unlock.
The inclusion of this technology could result in a thicker OnePlus device, in order to accommodate the extra layer of screen under the display.
OnePlus, it says, wanted to offer the feature on the 5T itself but didn’t find the technology mature enough to use back then. In addition to this, we expect the OnePlus 6T to sport a water drop notch on the front, which was recently seen in the Vivo V11 Pro.
With the launch of the T edition, OnePlus could yet again stop its focus on the OnePlus 6, just like it did with the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 5 in the past few years. It is likely that the 6T will also launch in India later this year, but we’ll need to wait for official confirmation before we can say more about that.
