HMD Global has launched the Nokia 7.1 in India and this story has been updated with the price and its availability.
HMD Global has been on a phone launching spree this year and the Nokia 7.1 is the latest in its lineup of devices. The phone is now coming to the Indian market, priced at Rs 19,999 and will be available from 7 December onwards.
Till now, we’ve seen HMD launch the Nokia 6.1 Plus and the Nokia 5.1 Plus that are priced at Rs 15,999 and Rs 10,999 respectively. While the Nokia 7 never made it to India, we got hold of the Nokia 7.1 Plus that for Rs 25,999 did well for its segment.
Not to forget, this is also one of the few phones in 2018 to be running on Android Pie. Coming back to the Nokia 7.1, here’s a look at what the latest Nokia phone will offer.
The phone gets a 5.8-inch screen with FHD+ resolution of 2280x1080 pixels, just like what we saw and liked on the Nokia 6.1 Plus a few weeks back. But HMD Global told us that with the Nokia 7.1, there will be more punch in the screen which it calls Pure Display, a term used by the brand for the first time.
It comes with a Snapdragon 636 processor, paired with 3 GB or 4 GB RAM and offering storage variants of 32 GB and 64 GB. You can choose between using a single SIM or expand the storage space further, something that’s doable with a hybrid SIM slot.
Design-wise, the phone isn’t very different from the 6.1 Plus and that’s not a bad thing. The build quality is durable with aluminium used in abundance in the phone's construction, giving you enough confidence while holding it. The USB Type C port is placed at the bottom and the fingerprint reader is at the back of the phone.
And yes, there’s a notch on the front. Duh!
Unlike the 6.1 Plus, HMD Global highlighted that the Nokia 7.1 will get dual rear cameras with Zeiss Optics lens. The resulting images did turn out better than what we got with the Nokia 6.1 Plus, even though we’d like some improvement on the low-light front.
We’ll do a detailed review of the camera in the coming weeks, but the change in quality was evident. Finally, the Nokia 7.1 comes loaded with a 3060mAh battery that the company claims is good enough for a single day’s usage. We will test that claim too.
