Lenovo Moto has been absent from the smartphone circuit for quite a while now. The last we heard from it was during the launch of the Moto Z2 Play, and it has remained under the radar ever since.

But Moto is back. No, not with a smartphone. Say hello to the new Moto Mods – the SoundBoost 2, theTurboPower Pack mod, and Game Pad mod.

While the new SoundBoost and the Game Pad mod have been priced at Rs 6,999, the Power Pack mod is available at Rs 5,999. All the new mods will be available both offline and online, starting 16 December.

Game Pad mod

I personally think the Game Pad mod is the best of the lot. The mod has the ability to transform your Moto Z series phones into a handheld gaming console.

Something like what you see on a PlayStation Portable or Nintendo Wii.

It is a bit bulky, so don’t expect to attend calls in the middle of a gaming session (Mostly because you’ll look ridiculous if you do).

The Game Pad mod comes with dual control sticks, a D-pad, and four action buttons. It also comes with extra battery juice of 1035 mAh, so that your gaming session can last more than seven hours.

SoundBoost 2

The other mod Moto on offer is the SoundBoost 2. The upgrade promises to offer more sound than before but I feel it is just an incremental upgrade.

It offers 10 hours of playtime and is water-resistant. What I like about the new speaker mod is the option to control the volume via the My JBL SoundBoost 2 app.

The speaker doesn’t need Bluetooth to pair and starts as you snap the speaker on the phone. It also comes with a built-in stand.

TurboPower Pack mod

And last but not the least is the new TurboPower Pack mod that gives the phone an additional 50 percent charge in just 20 minutes when your phone runs out of juice.

It also comes with an LED indicator to show exactly how much charge is remaining in the power pack.

All these modules are compatible with the older Moto Z variants as well. Moto also offers the mods on a trial basis. This means that you can use the mods for a week by paying Rs 399. If you like what you see, then you can opt to buy it.
