Motorola could soon join Nokia in launching one of its legacy products, the legendary Moto Razr flip phone. If you grew up in the 90’s and your folks got you the Motorola Moto Razr flip phone, then we’ve got some cracking news, or so we think.

While nothing’s confirmed yet, Motorola’s CEO told TechRadar that with fast developing technology like foldable screens, the return of the Razr could take place soon.

The company teased fans of its popular product a few years back, when reports even cited the possibility of the phone running on Android, but we didn’t see any official remark from the brand after that. This time, things are different, and there is a strong reason to believe that Razr could actually make its comeback.

The report quotes Yang Yuanqing, CEO of Lenovo (which owns Motorola now), when he was specifically asked about the re-return of the Moto Razr.

With the new technology, particularly foldable screens, I think you will see more and more innovation on our smartphone design. So hopefully what you just described (the Motorola Razr brand) will be developed or realized very soon

The reporter did a quick follow up with Yang on whether he was referring to the Moto Razr specifically, to which the Lenovo CEO said this.

I think I have already answered the question.

Without revealing anything, Yang has got the media and technology circuit all buzzed up after his very-cryptic comment. While he did emphasise on foldable display, it’s hard to ascertain whether Yang was clearly talking about the Razr, or some other product that Motorola is working on.

Either ways, Motorola is likely to have seen the consumer response that HMD Global got when it launched its Nokia 3310 last year, and followed that up with the Nokia 8110 in a 4G avatar at this years MWC event in Barcelona.

Moto Razr was an extremely popular phone, and if Motorola could rekindle this device with smart operating system (like Kai OS on the Nokia 8110), and offer 4G support with that, pretty sure there will be many takers for this one.
