Huawei announced its latest flagship phone for the global market on Tuesday, 27 March. The smartphone is likely to debut in India as well. The Huawei P20, is also their first Leica-powered phone that comes with three cameras at the back. It is also one of the first in the world to offer 512GB storage out-of-box.

The Huawei P20 has been priced starting from 649 Euros (Rs 68,430 approx.) and going up to a staggering 2095 Euros (Rs 1.6 lakh approx.) for the top variant. No availability details have been shared yet but we’re expecting the launch in May.

The biggest highlight about the Huawei P20 is the use of a 6.1-inch form size with an OLED screen with the notch. Yep, the P20 isn’t the first, and won’t be the last phone with the iPhone X-like notch to hit the market this year. But unlike most notch-laden phones we’ve seen till date, this one allows to change that setting.

The phone also gets some staggering imaging capability, featuring three cameras at the back. You get a 40-megapixel sensor, 20-megapixel sensor and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with apertures of f/1.8, f/1.6 and f/2.4, respectively.

Having said that, it’s worth noting that the three camera feature is only available with the Huawei P20 Pro. The regular Huawei P20 carries a 20-megapixel monochrome and 12-megapixel RGB lens. It’s got a 24.8-megapixel front camera.

Both the P20 phones are running on Android 8.1 version, powered by the same Kirin 970 octa-core processor. Memory options range from 4 to 6GB, with onboard storage stretching up to 512GB.

The P20 gets a marginally smaller 5.8-inch form factor, with an 19:9 screen that carries a resolution of 2280x1080 pixels.

All these features are likely to have put a high price tag on the P20 series, pitting it against other flagships like Samsung Galaxy S9, Google Pixel and the iPhone 8. Huawei’s been reluctant to brings its devices to India, preferring Honor with its mid-range products.

But rumours are rife that the P20 will be an exception, launching in India sooner than later. Everything comes down to how the phones are priced and the only way that could work is being aggressive.
