The Indian smartphone gaming market has been waiting for a true gaming smartphone for a while. The Nubia Red Magic did try to fill that gap, but was nowhere as premium as a gaming enthusiast would want.
ASUS launched the ROG phone in foreign markets a couple of months ago and now the phone has been launched in India at Rs 69,999.
It’s premium, sports an impressive list of hardware specifications and also comes with some high-tech additions that make this phone a gamer’s dream.
Here’s a first look at the new Asus ROG phone.
The ROG phone sports an impressive full HD+ display that pumps out colours at 403ppi. This is a 1080p display with a notch at the top. So the 18:9 screen ratio is a given.
The phone weighs 200 grams thanks to the 4,000mAh battery, which supports Quick Charge 4.0. It’s capable of supporting 14 hours of non-stop video streaming as the company claims.
The ROG phone is powered by a powerful Snapdragon 845 processor coupled with 8GB of RAM. It’s been clocked at a whopping 2.96Ghz to deliver blazing fast performance for gaming. As far as the display goes, it sports a 90Hz refresh rate for a blur free gaming experience.
There is no expandable storage so you get 512GB of maximum storage space. Don’t think you’ll need more.
In terms of camera specifications, it sports a dual 12+8-megapixel camera which is a decent performer even in low light thanks to its f/1.7 aperture. The front camera is a 24-megapixel shooter.
The ROG phone comes with a 3D chamber vapour-cooling system that also supports multiple accessories to make the gaming experience better. It comes with additions like a joystick, desktop dock, twin view dock and more that can be attached to the phone via a USB type C connector. These accessories have to be purchased separately.
The ROG phone is a good tool for a serious gamer. It’s sad that the high definition gaming industry in India hasn’t matched up to the hardware and specs of the ROG phone, but in the days to come it surely will.
The ROG phone points to an era of how gaming smartphones will look in the future.
