The Volkswagen Polo GTI makes a limited-time debut in India, price starting from Rs 25.99 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). If you’re wondering why on earth does a Polo hatchback cost this much then here’s the reason: Volkswagen pits the Polo GTI as a powerful mean machine.
The German automaker has come to our shores with the three-door model for now, testing waters for the five-door version to be launched in the near future.
As informed by Volkswagen, only 99 Polo GTIs will be made available in the market.
The new Polo GTI is powered by a 1.8 litre petrol/2.0 litre diesel engine mated with a 7-gear automatic DSG gearbox. Polo GTI can churn out 192 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque.

To give you a perspective, most of the hatchbacks in India don’t even touch 100 hp, and Polo GTI gets a top speed of 233 km/hr. That helps the hatch to go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.2 seconds, as claimed by the company.
