Toyota Yaris Takes Charge in the Mid-Range Sedan Segment.
Toyota has showcased its latest high-end sedan called the Yaris, which stands much higher than its existing product Etios in the country. This four-wheeler packs a 1.5 litre dual Variable Valve Timing (VVT) engine, mated with 6-speed and 7-speed CVT and manual transmission respectively.
The company says all four wheels will get disc brakes and will be alloy wheels, while the CVT variant gets paddle shift as well. In terms of the design of Yaris, the car gets signature Toyota touch, with tall and straight lines and a partioned front grille that layered right below the headlamps.
One of the most interesting features is the placement of fog lights on this one – they stand away from the grille (as seen below).
The car sports projector LED headlamps on offer, as well as LED rear lights. The shark-fin antenna comes across as the shift in balance of the design at the back. Toyota claims to have focused on adding an extra element of premium feel to this sedan, but all of that will only make sense when the price of the Yaris is revealed later this year.
In terms of other features, Yaris gets impact-sensing door unlock, rear camera, rain sensing wipers and rear fog lamps among others.
The Yaris has been under speculation to be launched for quite some time now. Upon launch, the Yaris will go up against the likes of the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
