The iconic Volkswagen Beetle has withstood the passage of time and has been one of the better-looking cars for decades.
The latest version was launched in the presence of Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor and fashion designer Kunal Rawal, at a lifestyle event in Mumbai and has been priced at Rs. 28,73 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
The update in the design of the car can be noticed instantly, with the muscular yet curvy lines and an aggressive stance.
The company claims that the new Beetle will give an impressive mileage of 17.68 km/l.
The Beetle is powered by a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine, which churns out 149 horsepower and 250 Nm of Torque, and it is connected to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox with paddle shift.
On the front, the new design includes daytime-running LEDs and a new-grille design which has integrated turn indicators and the fog lamps.
It also comes loaded with technologies like Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Program(ESP), Hill Hold and Airbags for safety.
Interestingly, the boot is in front of the car and the engine bay is placed on the rear end. This unusual placement has been a signature feature of the Beetle since it first came out decades ago.
