Skoda is all set to rejig its model portfolio in the country with the Kodiaq. This is a 7-seater 4X4 SUV that will be hitting the Indian market in mid-2017. It is highly likely that the Kodiaq will go up against the likes of Toyota Fortuner.

The company is focused on learning from its debacle with the steep-priced Yeti. According to Skoda, the Kodiaq’s design conveys ‘strength and protection’. The Kodiaq is the biggest-ever SUV with a Skoda badge.

The manufacturer says that the ‘Kodiaq’ name comes from ‘Kodiak’, which is a type of bear found in Alaska, and will be assembled in India as well.

As informed, the Kodiaq model for India could be powered with engines that are available on its Octavia and the Superb. The Kodiaq comes in multiple diesel and petrol variant, 1.8-litre TSI Petrol and a 2-litre TDI Diesel. This will be mated with a 6-speed manual/DSG and 7-speed DSG transmission options.

They will churn out around 180 PS & 250 Nm and 177 PS and 350 Nm respectively.
