Tata Motors has officially shown us the final look of its upcoming five-seater SUV, the Tata Harrier, that is likely to compete against the Jeep Compass in India. It was first showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo in Noida as the H5X concept model.

The company assured us that the final production model of the H5X will borrow 80 percent of its elements from the concept version and we're glad Tata has lived up to its word with the Harrier.

This SUV is also Tata's first to be built on a platform sourced from Jaguar Land Rover. The Omega Arc platform has been adapted from a Land Rover Discovery platform, which comes with the credentials needed to build an SUV that can adapt to all kinds of terrain.

Speaking of which, various test mules of the Harrier have been spotted in regions like Leh and have been shared widely on the internet. The initial impressions that people shared have been impressive.

The Harrier will be sold in both 5- and 7-seater configurations and will be powered by a 2-litre diesel engine. The SUV will likely offer 140 bhp of power and 300 Nm of torque, with a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic transmission option.

It will also likely come with a 4x4 option.

In terms of the pricing, Harrier is likely to go against the Jeep Compass, but Tata's recent history suggests, people might be looking at something which costs much lower than its rivals. The SUV is already available for pre-booking for a nominal cost of Rs 30,000.
