The BMW group in India has launched it’s hot-selling hatchback the Mini in a new avatar. Dubbed the 2019 Mini John Cooper, the car carries a price tag of Rs 43.5 lakh which also takes a CBU route to the country.

This version of the Mini is a facelift and has already been launched in the international markets. John Cooper Works or JCW is Mini’s performance division.

In terms of performance, the car is powered by a 2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine capable of producing 228 bhp of power and 320 Nm of torque. The car can do 0-100 kmph in just 6.1 seconds. The engine has been mated to an 8-speed sports steptronic automatic transmission.

The company has confirmed that the 6-speed manual transmission version will not be coming to India.

There have been subtle changes and revisions made to the chassis and the braking system. Also, the car gets updated springs, dampers and lightened suspension. The car receives three driving modes: Sport, Comfort and Efficiency.

A look on the inside will show you an all-black cabin with JCW branded inserts and there is also an JCW button in the centre console which can alter the exhaust note of the car.

This Mini John Cooper Works competes with the likes of the Mercedes Benz A-Class as well as the Audi TT in India. But it’s in a pretty unique price band.
