Jeep Compass Trailhawk Variant Launched, Priced at Rs 26.8 Lakh

The Jeep Compass Trailhawk variant has been launched in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 26.8 lakh. The Jeep Compass Trailhawk is the fully loaded off-road capable variant of the Jeep Compass range, which otherwise starts at Rs 15.6 lakh ex-showroom for the petrol, two-wheel drive sport variant.
Ever since the Jeep Compass was launched in 2017, it sold only one variant featuring all-wheel drive – the Jeep Compass Limited 4x4 priced at Rs 22 lakh ex-showroom. However, the Jeep brand is known for its off-road capable vehicles. While this one variant of the Compass had all-wheel drive and different modes, its off-road prowess was about average.
Jeep has now brought in the variant that is “trail-rated”, meaning it is loaded with enough hardware to tackle hardcore off-road trails.
What’s New With The Jeep Compass Trailhawk?
The Jeep Compass Trailhawk variant comes with many more features compared to the other variants of the Compass. It is powered by the same 2-litre diesel engine that puts out 170 bhp of power and 350 Nm of torque, but it is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. The engine is BS-VI compliant.
Earlier Jeep offered an automatic transmission only with the 1.4 litre turbo-petrol motor, which had a 7-speed auto box. That only came in two-wheel drive guise and had no off-road ability.
The Compass Trailhawk has full-time all-wheel drive and includes a low-range 4x4 gearbox for additional torque. It also comes with a “rock mode” in addition to the auto, and, mud and snow modes.
Jeep has added some additional features to the Compass Trailhawk, including cruise control, hill-descent control, engine start-stop to save fuel and in-built navigation. It gets increased ground clearance and 840 mm of water wading capability.
The underbody is protected by 3mm thick steel sheets and it comes with all-terrain tyres. It gets six airbags in this variant.
The Jeep Compass Trailhawk variant is nearly Rs 5 lakh more expensive than the other models in its stable. However, it will cater to a niche audience that wants a capable, go-anywhere SUV that is compact and comfortable enough for daily use too.
Price-wise it competes with the Mahindra Alturas, Hyundai Tucson as well as the Honda CR-V.
