Hyundai India has just launched its most-awaited compact SUV, the Hyundai Venue. Prices start at Rs 6.5 lakh for the base petrol model going up to Rs 11.10 lakh ex-showroom for the fully loaded automatic variant. It gets a total of 11 trim levels across 1.4 litre diesel, 1.2 litre petrol and 1-litre turbo-petrol models, with 7-speed automatic, 6-speed and 5-speed manual transmission options.
The Hyundai Venue will compete with the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport and Honda WR-V for a share of the popular compact SUV segment. So far the Maruti Vitara Brezza has been leading in terms of numbers with over 10,000 units being sold each month. Can the Hyundai Venue beat that?

Hyundai has a reputation for loading its vehicles with technology. The Hyundai Venue is no different.
Starting with the styling, it gets a unique front end with a large grille, headlamps embedded in the bumper, surrounded by DRLs, and indicators that are placed at the top corners. The rear looks like a grown-up i10 Grand, but it is fairly spacious.
The talking points are the engine choices. It comes with a choice of three powertrain combinations. It will get a 1-litre turbocharged petrol engine that puts out 118 bhp of power and 172 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT), or a choice of a six-speed manual gearbox (see price chart above).
It also gets naturally aspirated 1.2 litre petrol motor that puts out 82 bhp of power and 114 Nm of torque (the same as the Hyundai i20). This will have a five-speed manual gearbox only and is offered on the E and S variants of the Venue.
And then there's a 1.4 litre diesel engine that puts out 89 bhp of power and 220 Nm of torque (again the same as the Hyundai i20), with a six-speed manual gearbox.
The Venue is available in six colours, with dual tone colour combinations as well.
