The Maestro Edge 125 is Hero’s second 125 cc scooter, after the Destini 125 that it launched about six months ago. The Maestro Edge 125, though, is the first in its line up to come with fuel injection. It also comes in a carburettor driven variant.
The fuel-injected variant of the Maestro Edge 125 puts out 9.1 bhp of power at 7,000 rpm and maximum torque of 10.2 Nm @ 5,000 rpm. The carburettor-driven variant makes the same torque, but slightly lower power at 8.7 bhp. The carburettor variant gets the start-stop (i3S) system that switches off the scooter at signals for better fuel efficiency.
It gets an LED signature lamp in the front, new tail-lights, redesigned front panel and rear end. Boot lamp and mobile charging port are other features it has. The fuel-injected variant comes with brown and black colours, while the carburettor variant has blue, red, brown and grey.
The Hero Pleasure+ gets a bigger engine. It now comes with a 110 cc single-cylinder engine with CVT transmission that puts out 8 bhp of power at 7,500 rpm and 8.7 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm.
It earlier was targetted mainly at women, a segment that has grown 75 percent in the past four years. Now, the scooter has been given a makeover for a more unisex appeal.
It’s targeted at a young audience, college students and young professionals. The styling is slightly retro, but it comes with a USB charger, boot lamp and combined braking system.
The Maestro Edge 125 goes up against the Honda Activa, which is the leader in the segment, Suzuki Access 125 and TVS NTorq. The Pleasure also targets the Honda Activa 110 and TVS Jupiter among others.
