Hero MotoCorp Debuts XPulse Off-Road & Xtreme 200S Bikes in India

Hero MotoCorp has launched not one but three new 200cc bikes for Indian consumers at affordable prices.

Hero MotoCorp is slowly expanding its portfolio with new bikes and on Wednesday, the company has launched three products carrying 200cc engine from its stable.

The bikes, XPulse 200, Xpulse 200T and Xtreme 200S borrow the same engine from the Xtreme 200R which was launched in late 2018 by the company.

As for the XPulse series, this is Hero’s entry into the adventure biking segment in India, and with a price tag of Rs 97,000 (ex-showroom), it is almost one lakh cheaper than the next best off-road vehicle, the Himalayan from Royal Enfield.

The other two bikes, Xpulse 200T and Xtreme 200S have been priced at Rs 94,000 and Rs 98,500 respectively. The company hasn’t revealed the availability details for now, but we expect pre-booking to start in the coming days.

Hero MotoCorp Bikes Launched:

  • XPulse 200 - Rs 97,000 (carburetor), Rs 1,05,000 (fuel-injected)
  • Xpulse 200T - Rs 94,000
  • Xtreme 200S - Rs 98,500

Xpulse is an interesting addition to Hero’s line-up, one that will excite off-road and adventure enthusiasts in the country.

Many riders have used Hero’s Impulse bike and customised them for adventure touring to good effect. With the Xpulse, Hero is giving them a factory-ready model, that seems to have the wits to tackle the rough conditions of terrain.

The bike is powered by the same 200cc unit, but Xpulse is being offered in two variants; carburetor and fuel-injected, for which buyers will have to shell out more. Even then, Xpulse becomes the most affordable bike for off-roading in the country, even though it carries the smallest engine specs in the segment.

The Hero Xpulse is powered by a 199.5 cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine, which pumps out maximum power of 18.1 bhp and 17.1 Nm of maximum torque. The same has been drawn from the Hero Xtreme.

For those who aren’t keen on off-roading, Hero has made the Xpulse 200T, which is primarily a touring variant, with softer tyres for urban riding. The engine specs and power ratio are same as on the Xpulse 200.

The last addition to Hero’s 200cc armoury is the Xtreme 200S. This is the full-faired version of the Xtreme 200R, launched in 2018.

The design of the bike looks awkward from the front, at least from the visuals we have seen but hopefully with its under Rs 1 lakh price tag, buyers will find it appealing.

This bike goes up against Bajaj’s Pulsar 200 series, TVS Apache 200 range and slew of bikes in the 150cc segment that are available in this price range for Indian buyers.
