Iconic cruiser bike manufacturer Harley-Davidson is all to shock riders with its LiveWire electric bike in India later this month. The company has sent out media invites with a launch date pegged for 27 August.
The electric bike, Harley’s first ever, made its public unveiling at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2019 in Las Vegas earlier this year.
The bike comes equipped with Samsung SDI Co's battery pack and will be available in markets like the United States later this month with a price tag of $29,799 (Rs 20.8 lakh approx). We’ve seen multiple prototype versions of the bike over the past few years and it seems the US-based manufacturer is finally ready to roll them out on the roads.
Harley Davidson has said that the LiveWire can be charged at any compatible charging station, or with its on-board charger and a standard household outlet. It will support three levels of charging, delivering different charging results with riding range.
Without going for the the paid feature, LiveWire owners won’t be able to take advantage of the remote status and security features, as highlighted by Harley Davidson on its website. It has also confirmed that detailed data collection and privacy information will be available at the time of service launch.
The LiveWire claims to offer a range of 235km on a single charge and is powered with a 15.5 kWh battery. It can churn out 104.6 bhp of power and a peak torque of 116 Nm. With these numbers, the LiveWire can breeze up to 100Km/hr in just three seconds.
The trouble is, you just may not hear it coming!
