Ford showcased almost its entire range of cars at the Geneva Motor Show 2018, but what stood out was the new 2018 Ford Mustang Bullitt, which is a tribute to the 1968 Mustang that was part of the movie Bullitt. The 1968 version was also on display at the show.
What is of interest to India, however, is Ford's range of SUVs and a couple of car models that it has. If the company plans to expand its portfolio in the Indian market, the Ford Edge could be one of the contenders – for a large-sized SUV or perhaps the Ford Kuga if the company was looking at something the size of a Hyundai Creta.
It also had the Ford S-Max on display, which would make compete in the MUV space in India, if Ford was to consider a people-mover for India.
Besides the Ford EcoSport, Ford also had the Mondeo sedan and Mondeo estate on display. This car, the Mondeo sedan, was once in India – in the early 2000s, but was discontinued as sales were poor. Another car that was discontinued in India, but continues to sell well in other markets is the Ford Fiesta – mainly in its hatchback form.
The Ford Ranger dual-cab pick-up was also on display. This is based on the Ford Endeavour platform. It shares the same 3.2 litre diesel engine and six-speed automatic transmission as the Endeavour. However, it gets a more rudimentary four-wheel drive system, without the 'Terrain Response' feature that the Endeavour has.
Besides this line up, Ford also had a track-ready edition of the Ford GT40 on display at its stall.
