At the Auto Expo 2016, Volkswagen was ready to take back the title of the most powerful hatchback in India.
Dethroned by the Fiat Punto Abarth, that has a power output of 145 bhp, the German carmaker unveiled the Volkswagen Polo GTI at the Delhi Auto Expo this year, with a vengeance.
The company says that the car will enter the Indian market this Diwali. The Polo GTI will be a three door hot hatchback that will have a 1.8 litre TSI petrol engine and a 2.0 litre TDI diesel engine variant. The company claims that the petrol variant will have a power output of 192 bhp, while the diesel will give a staggering 230 bhp of power.
Volkswagen Polo GT is presently the fastest hatchback that the company sells in India. It faced some stiff competition recently from the likes of Ford Figo petrol automatic that has 110 bhp and the Fiat Punto Abarth.
The hatchback is also capable of doing a 0-100 km/h dash in just 6.6 seconds and has a 7-speed automatic DSG transmission.
We just hope that Volkswagen gets the price right on this one.
