If you own a car in India, a FASTag should definitely be on your shopping list. The Government of India has made FASTag mandatory for all cars from 1 December. This is why car-owners are in a rush to get one for themselves as ‘fast’ as possible.
The NHAI (National Highways Authority of India) said it will be providing FASTags free of cost at the toll booth for a limited period of time but there are e-commerce platforms & digital wallets like PayTM and Amazon also selling FASTag RIFD devices.
Since there are many platforms selling FASTags at various prices here are some offers you can avail.
HDFC Bank - Rs 400: Rs 100 is the issuance fee. Rs 200 is a security deposit that can be refunded and the remaining Rs 200 is deducted as the first recharge amount.
Paytm - Rs 100: This seems to be the most generous deal to car owners. Paytm has waived off the Rs 100 FASTag price from the total sum. However, you will still have to pay Rs 400 of which Rs 250 is refundable and minimum card balance is Rs 150. It is also offering a movie ticket discount worth Rs 150 if you purchase a FASTag which brings the total cost even lower to Rs 250.
ICICI Bank - Rs 500: The most expensive deal on this list. This amount includes the Rs 99 issuance fees with Rs 200 refundable deposit and Rs 200 recharge amount.
SBI Bank- Rs 400 : This includes Rs 100 as issuance fee, Rs 200 as security deposit with a minimum balance of Rs 100.
The above charges and pricing are only for private cars while commercial vehicles, buses, and trucks have different pricing for FASTags.
Apart from that, all FASTag payments made until 2020 will include cashback up to 2.5 percent while SBI Bank is offering up to 7.5 percent cashback as per details on its website.
One can easily top-up one’s FASTag using digital wallets, debit or credit cars and even UPI. Users will also get notifications and balance updates via SMS.
