Bajaj has just launched a smaller version of its Dominar 400 - the Dominar 250, powered by a single-cylinder 250 cc motor that is shared with the KTM 250 Duke. The Dominar 250 is priced at Rs 1.60 lakh ex-showroom, about Rs 30,000 lower than its sibling.

Dealers have already been taking bookings for the Dominar 250 ahead of launch. The Bajaj Dominar 250 will compete with the Suzuki Gixxer 250 and KTM 250 Duke as well as Yamaha’s 250 cc bikes.

The 250 cc Dominar puts out about 27 bhp of power and 23 Nm of torque, which is slightly lower than what the KTM 250 Duke puts out. This is a liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor.

Bajaj has detuned it in the interest of fuel economy, hence the slightly lower output, which is still well within what one expects from bikes of this cubic capacity. It has a six-speed transmission with a slip-assist clutch.

The Dominar 250 has a kerb weight of 180 Kg and can hit a top speed of 132 Kmph. If features dual channel ABS and has two colour options - red and black.

In terms of features, expect Bajaj to carry over the styling from the Bajaj Dominar 400. It comes with a full LED headlamp unit, upside-down front forks and fully digital instrument panel. It also features the twin digital panel that the Dominar 400. It also has the dual exhaust pipe that the Dominar 400 has, but it features smaller wheels.

Besides the upcoming Bajaj Dominar 250, the same motor also does duty in the recently launched Husqvarna Vitpilen 250 and Husqvarna Svartpilen 250. The Bajaj Dominar 250 will be sold from regular Bajaj showrooms, while KTM and Husqvarna bikes are sold from separate showrooms.
