Bajaj Auto reported a 26 percent motorcycle sales increase in the domestic market at 2,64,249 units in March. The company had sold 2,09,937 units in the corresponding period a year ago. Total vehicle sales last month stood at 3,05,800 units, up 22 percent, as against 2,50,604 units in the same month a year earlier, Bajaj Auto said in a BSE filing.
The two-wheeler major said its exports rose 3 percent during the month to 1,01,519 units from 98,703 units in the corresponding period last year.
The 2015-16 fiscal year ended on 31 March 2016, wherein the company sold 33,58,252 bikes, up 2 percent, from 32,92,084 units in the domestic market in 2014-15. Total sales of the company stood at 38,93,581 units during the last fiscal, up 2 percent, as against 38,11,201 units in the 2014-15 financial year.
One of the main reasons for the increase in sales can be attributed to their recent launches, like the new Bajaj Avenger series and the Bajaj V.
