Remember the big meaty 1800 cc cruiser from Suzuki the Intruder M1800R? Well Suzuki hasn’t launched an upgrade to the same but a younger sibling, the Intruder 150 cc. It is priced at Rs 98,340 ex-showroom.
The new Intruder is being touted as a lightweight city cruiser by the company and The Quint got a chance to test out the new Intruder in the winding roads of Lavasa in Pune.
As the name suggests the new intruder borrows some elements from its bid daddy. The headlamp and the muscular side shrouds are a few examples.
It’s running on the same engine as the Gixxer 150 and pumps out 14.5 bhp of maximum power and 14 Nm of torque. At 148 kilograms the bike carries a lightweight design, this soft-tail cruiser feels comfortable to ride.
Features like the twin muffler exhaust, standard 41mm front forks and also ABS (anti-lock braking system) have been borrowed from the Gixxer.
The rear monoshock suspension keeps riding smooth and the 17-inch tubeless radial tyres are great even on tough roads.
Where the Intruder really grabs extra points is the front half of the bike. It really is an eye-catching section of the bike. I can’t say the same about the rear end of the motorcycle.
The Intruder has been launched in India at a price of Rs 98,340 (Ex-Showroom - Delhi) and is in direct competition with the likes of the Avenger 150.
My experience riding the bike in Lavasa was exhilarating though I still feel the bike needs more metal along with an even more powerful engine to justify the title ‘Intruder’.
