Yuvraj Singh has a massive headache. And its called Dad.

Yograj Singh is still unhappy that son Yuvraj was kept out of India’s World Cup squad. And he continues to blame it all on MS Dhoni. Speaking to a TV channel, an emotional Yograj went on a total rant against the India captain. Here is a nugget - a fully ‘filmi curse’:

There will be a day when Dhoni will be left to beg and become penniless and would not get any favour.

Yograj accused the media of giving undue credit to Dhoni for Team India’s successes and making a hero out of him. He went a step ahead comparing Dhoni’s ‘arrogance’ to that of Ravana:

Dhoni is arrogant. The way Ravana’s pride came to an end, Dhoni will also suffer some day. He considers himself much above Raavan.

Yograj Singh has seen failure up close. His career as a fast bowler started alongside Kapil Dev. While the Haryana ‘hurricane’ became an all-time great, Yograj had an ordinary career. He tried and failed as an actor in Punjabi films. He tried and failed at politics too.

But he has been a frequent embarrassment to his genuinely talented son, who’s career peaked when he was named Player of the Tournament at the 2011 World Cup, the star of India’s second World Cup win.

Yograj Singh even lashed out at Dhoni for taking Yuvraj’s batting spot in the 2011 World Cup final only to ‘become a hero’ himself:

In the 2011 final, Yuvraj was going to bat but Dhoni stopped him and went to bat and became a hero. Why didn’t he bat at No.4 this time? Why did he go at No.6? If he is great then he should have batted at No.6 and guided India to a win against the Aussies.

Yuvraj, on his part, has always kept a distance from his Dad’s comments. In fact, he has always defended his former ODI captain, maintaining that Dhoni is a friend and cannot be blamed for choices he has made as captain.

Bought by Delhi Daredevils at a whopping Rs 16 crore at the recent IPL auction, Yuvraj still has plenty to boast about. He doesn’t need Dad to bat for him.
