For the second time in this World Cup a batsman survived despite the ball hitting the stumps.
Sri Lankan captain, Dimuth Karunaratne was the benificiary from the zinger bails controversy.
The 140-kmph delivery had clipped the stumps and the bail almost came off the groove. But just like every funny zinger bail story, the batsman had the last laugh.
Though it did not affect the Kiwis much as Sri Lanka were bowled out for 136 in 29.2 overs. But it would have been even less, as Karunaratne went on to score 52, the highest in the Sri Lankan line-up.
The domestic Australian T-20 league gave birth to these special bails which are heavier than the usual ones.
Twitterati also stepped into the hot debate.
Even during IPL 2019, there had been multiple zinger bail controversies, but as per the ICC laws there is actually no provision on the weight of bails.
