After a patchy start in the ongoing edition of the World Cup, Pakistan made an impressive comeback on Monday, 3 June by defeating the host England by 14 runs. Pakistani batsmen put up a clinical performance to help the team to post 348/8 with Mohammad Hafeez scoring the highest for the team (84 off 62 balls).

Meanwhile, Babar Azam (63 off 66) and Sarfraz Ahmed (55 of 44) too chipped in with important contributions.

Speaking on the team's performance, Hafeez during the post-match press conference said that total self-belief delivered victory for Pakistan.

"Well, I can only describe it was total self-belief. Everyone was really looking forward to doing something in this game. Yes, we played a bad game in the first against West Indies. But we knew as a team we are very much capable to win the matches for Pakistan," said Hafeez.

Hafeez further added that the team was overall "happy with the runs they made" and the bowlers did a "great job to restrict them."

“So we believed we got the runs in our minds we really wanted to achieve and then the bowlers did a great job to restrict them.”
