Injury Concern For Bangladesh: Shakib Taken To Hospital For Scans

According to Bangladesh selector Habibul Bashar, Shakib has a 50-50 chance of playing against Sri Lanka on Tuesday.

There is huge injury concern for Bangladesh ahead of their match against Sri Lanka on Tuesday. In-form batsman Shakib Al Hasan was taken to the hospital for scans after he sustained an injury during the England game.

“Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan suffered a left thigh strain while batting during the ICC Cricket World Cup match against England in Cardiff. He underwent a precautionary scan today (Monday) in Bristol. We are waiting on a specialist assessment and report.”

According to Bangladesh selector Habibul Bashar, Shakib still has a 50-50 chance of making it to the playing XI against Sri Lanka.

‘’We have sent him for a scan as he had received some pain on his gluts during the game against England. We can know about it in detail after receiving the scan report but at the present it seems his participation is somewhat 50-50.”

Bangladesh, who started the World Cup on a bright note beating South Africa in their campaign opener, need Shakib to be fit. The 32-year all-rounder has already scored two half-centuries and a century in as many matches.

Shakib’s absence will be a big blow for Bangladesh, especially when they are trying to bring their World Cup campaign back on track after losses against New Zealand and England in successive matches.
