Every time the rivalry between India and Pakistan in a cricket match reaches a high pitch, some fans fortunately intervene to prove that the game isn’t all about bitterness.

In the midst of the competitiveness between the two countries shown in Manchester on 16 June, in the India versus Pakistan cricket match of ICC World Cup 2019, this couple showed another essence of cricket- the shared love for cricket between two rival teams.

The true spirit of Cricket.

A couple at the stands of Old Trafford fashioned a unique jersey that was half India and half Pakistan. Yes one half blue and one half green. This couple who according to the photographer is Canadian, came all the way to the UK to celebrate their respective home country’s team. “The Husband is from Pakistan, wife from India so both stitched up India-Pak jerseys & wore them! Both are Canadians, watching the game in England, rooting for peace” said Lakshmi Kaul on Twitter.

This couple was spotted by a twitter use Lakshmi Kaul who shared a picture of them wearing their unique IND-PAK jersies.

Lakshmi added in her tweet that she was intrigued by this jersey, and for sure everyone over the Internet is now too.

Their love for each other, their country as well as for the game is reflected in their effort to make this jersey. No doubt, the picture went viral within 8 hours of the match, with the couple being touted the real fans of ‘the gentleman’s game’ cricket.

With the Internet full of memes on both sides, roasting the rival country and passing at times mean comments at each other’s expense this picture captures the real essence of cricket, which is the game and not the rivalry.
