British singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran was among the many celebrities and stalwarts present at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London for the ICC World Cup match between England and Australia on Tuesday, 25 June.
The hosts and top-ranked England are playing defending champions Australia in one of the most anticipated matches at the World Cup. While Australia are second on the points table with 10 points, England are fourth with eight.
Among the other eminent personalities present at Lord’s to watch the match were British actor Damien Lewis and Nigel Farage, Leader of the Brexit Party.
Also reunited at the Lord’s were two legends of the sport – Sunil Gavaskar and Allan Border.
England men’s soccer team manager Gareth Southgate was also present at the match.
Both teams have a rich cricketing history between themselves and this game is being termed as one of the games to watch out for. Coming into this game, England have lost two games in the competition so far while Australia have lost just one.
Australia lost to India while Pakistan and Sri Lanka got the better of England in the tournament.
Meanwhile, Australia, on the back of Aaron Finch’s century and David Warner’s 53 scored 285 for 7 after being sent into bat first.
For England, Chris Woakes picked up two scalps, while Jofra Archer, Mark Wood, Ben Stokes and Moeen Ali picked up a wicket each.
