Back in the RCB XI only because of AB de Villiers' injury, Chris Gayle ensured the world was reminded of who exactly was the "Universe Boss" when he smashed a 38-ball 77 against Gujarat Lions on Tuesday night.
Coming into the match, Gayle was also just 3 runs short of becoming the first batsman to amass 10,000 T20 runs, and he reached the landmark by nudging Basil Thampi's delivery for a single. The "Universe Boss" then went on to smash five boundaries and seven massive sixes as RCB posted a winning target of 213.
The team won by 21 runs and the tweets celebrating Gayle's feat followed. Here’s what Kohli messaged.
