Watch: Usain Bolt Says He’s Signed For a Football Team

The sprint legend announced his plans on Twitter, but chose to stay mum on the name of the football team.

Eight-time Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt is all set to fulfil his dream of playing professional football.

The sprint legend on Sunday, 25 February, announced that he had signed up with a football team.

The multiple Olympic and world champion chose to keep the name of the football team under wraps, announcing that he would reveal the name and other details at around 8am GMT on 27 February.

Earlier this year, Bolt had confirmed that he would be undergoing a trial at German top-flight club Borussia Dortmund in March. But the sprinter had then expressed the desire to join Manchester United, his favourite team.

Eight-times gold medallist and holder of the World Record in the 100 and 200 m races, Bolt retired from athletics after the World Championships in August 2017. The only sprinter to capture the 100m and 200m titles in three consecutive Olympics, had settled for a silver in his career’s final individual race.
