Indian tennis player Sriram Balaji secured a bronze medal at the World Military Games 2019 on Saturday, 26 October, defeating Fomin Sergey of Uzbekistan 6-2, 6-3 in the third place match.

Speaking to news agency ANI after the match, Balaji said that practicing in China for a week before the tournament helped him acclimatise to the slow court conditions.

“While I am satisfied with my performance in men’s singles, I believe we could have clinched a medal in doubles. We will try our best next time”, he said.

Meanwhile, India narrowly missed a bronze at the men’s 4x400 relay final as the team finished fourth with a timing of 3:06.81 seconds.
