Real Madrid’s Luka Modric claimed FIFA’s Best Player of the Year award, beating Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to the prize and ending their decade-long award dominance.
The Croatia midfielder was presented with the award following a ceremony in London on Monday night, 24 September.
Praises for the footballer poured in on Twitter as he became the first Croatian player to win the award after winning the Champions League for a fourth time in five seasons with Real Madrid and leading Croatia to its first World Cup final where it lost to France.
