India lost their first game of the 2019 ICC World Cup on Sunday as they went down to England by 31 runs in Birmingham. Courtesy this win, England managed to keep their semi-final hopes alive.
India on their part had a few loose ends in the match - from Chahal conceding 88 runs in his 10 overs to just 28 runs being scored in India’s first 10 overs. There was also the worrying MS Dhoni innings where he once again to finish off the match for India.
Dhoni came into the crease after the fall of Rishabh Pant’s wicket in the 40th over. India were 240 for 4 after 40 overs, still needing 98 runs. He scored 42 of 31 balls hitting four fours and only just one six in his innings when India needed to score at over 10 runs an over.
So while experts will analyse the reasons for the loss, Twitter users couldn't decide if it was Dhoni, Chahal or the orange ‘away jersey’ at the root of India’s loss!
Meanwhile, there was another section of fans which blamed the India jersey for this loss. India sported their away ‘Orange Jersey’ as a part of the ‘One Day 4 Children’ campaign.
But the fans considered the jersey to be India’s bad luck in the game. Here’s what they had to say on the same.
